Security forces killed four alleged terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij in an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, according to security sources. The sources said the operation was launched after security forces monitored the suspects’ movements based on intelligence. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and Afghan currency was recovered from the site following the operation, the sources said. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the operation and commended their professional capabilities. Naqvi said the forces had thwarted what he described as the “nefarious designs” of Indian-sponsored terrorists. He said operations against militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would continue and reiterated the government’s commitment to combating terrorism. “The entire nation stands with the security forces” in the fight against terrorism, the interior minister said. Security forces have repeatedly conducted intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism framework.
