Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will arrive in Islamabad today (Monday) on a two-day official visit to Pakistan, accompanied by a high-level delegation of key ministers and senior officials. According to a statement from the Foreign Office, the visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and will take place from 8–9 December 2025. This marks President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan, with the last Indonesian presidential visit to the country carried out by President Joko Widodo in 2018. The visit is particularly significant as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia. During his stay, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and meet President Asif Ali Zardari. He will also be received by the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The discussions are expected to cover a broad agenda aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation, including trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education, and culture, as well as enhancing collaboration at regional and global levels. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are anticipated to be signed during the visit. Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy close, cordial and long-standing relations, underpinned by shared values and mutual interests. The visit of President Prabowo will provide an important opportunity to deepen bilateral ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation, contributing to the continued growth and diversification of the partnership between the two countries, the FO statement concluded.
