The Met Office has forecast light rain in Karachi today, followed by a marked increase in cold weather from Friday. Karachi is expected to come under a cold wave from Friday, with temperatures likely to fall into the single digits, the forecast added. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a new westerly weather system is affecting the country’s upper and western regions. PMD Deputy Director Anjum Nazir Zaigham said the system began influencing Balochistan late last night and is expected to enter western parts of Sindh on Thursday night. He said that rain is likely to occur in the western districts of Sindh, while light rainfall may also lash parts of Karachi. Zaigham added that the mountainous areas of northern Balochistan continued to receive snowfall, the effects of which will be felt across Sindh, including Karachi. The Met Office has advised citizens to take precautionary measures in view of the cold weather.
