The Ministry of Finance has been assigned a special task regarding the possible enforcement of a smart lockdown across the country, with a final decision to follow consultations with the provinces. According to government sources, the decision to impose a smart lockdown will be taken after consultation with all provinces. The duration of any such measure will also be determined in agreement with all units, with approval from all stakeholders deemed essential. Sources said the decision will take into account all business and commercial activities before any restrictions are introduced. They added that, if enforced, the smart lockdown will extend to the industrial and services sectors. Under austerity measures, wedding functions and other gatherings will be limited, while national highways will be closed to general traffic.
