The movement of a group of Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan was detected on the night of August 31 and September 1, the military’s media wing said. Security forces responded professionally and with patience before successfully engaging the militants, the ISPR said. The precise engagement continued for 36 hours, resulting in the killing of 15 terrorists. During a follow-up sanitisation operation, security forces recovered a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition from the slain terrorists, according to the ISPR. It added that the recovery further exposed the “nefarious designs” of the terrorists and their facilitators seeking to disrupt peace and stability in Pakistan. The ISPR said the incident along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border once again vindicated Pakistan’s stance regarding the Afghan Taliban regime’s failure to prevent the use of its territory for cross-border terrorism. It said the Afghan Taliban regime had also consistently failed to ensure effective border management and fulfil its international obligations. Security forces remain “resolute and unwavering” in their commitment to defend the country’s frontiers, the ISPR said. A sanitisation operation is underway to eliminate any other India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists found in the area, it added. The military’s media wing vowed that the counterterrorism campaign under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision would continue at full pace to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country. Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its KP and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power. According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with KP emerging as the worst-affected region. The report stated that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the quarter. Of the total deaths, more than 61% (475) were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34% (265). KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, representing 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, or 35%, underscoring the concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Security forces have…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":10300,"comment_status":"registered_only","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[40],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-10299","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-national"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10299","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=10299"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10299\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/10300"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=10299"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=10299"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jeetnews.pk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=10299"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
