Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the expansion of Lahore and Karachi airports in accordance with the master plans. Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister directed that these projects be completed within the specified timeframe without any compromise on quality and in line with the international standards. He directed that passenger convenience at Pakistani airports must be made top priority. The Prime Minister directed that third-party validation be ensured for expansion projects and for the reforms aimed at enhancing travel facilities for passengers. He said services of internationally reputed organizations should be engaged to refine airport amenities. Emphasizing high service delivery, the Prime Minister said officers and staff who provide services to passengers at airports should be given regular training. He said coordination among the various agencies present at airports should be further improved. Shehbaz Sharif said services of top-tier caterers should be hired for passengers at airports, and there should be no compromise on the quality of food and beverages. The meeting was briefed on a recent survey conducted by an international firm to assess travel service standards at major airports. The meeting was informed that a ‘Meet and Greet’ service has been introduced at Islamabad Airport for the convenience of passengers.
