Government data suggests that up to one in three teenagers aged 13 to 16 consume energy drinks some containing more caffeine than two cups of coffee despite most major supermarkets already having a voluntary ban in place. “How can we expect students to perform well at school if they’re running on the equivalent of a double espresso every day?” Streeting asked. He added that the decision responds to growing concerns among parents and teachers, aiming to address both public health and academic performance. The government has launched a 12-week consultation to seek input from health experts, retailers, manufacturers, and the public before finalizing the ban. Currently, drinks with more than 150mg of caffeine per litre must carry a label warning that they are not recommended for children. “Energy drinks might seem harmless, but the sleep, concentration and wellbeing of today’s kids are all being impacted, while high sugar versions damage their teeth and contribute to obesity,” Streeting said.

[9

post-2941","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-health
["GET
