Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised US President Donald Trump as an \u201carchitect of peace\u201d in South Asia, crediting him with preventing a potential war between India and Pakistan through his world-class statesmanship and vision. Speaking to a select group of Pakistani media in London on Sunday, the premier thanked President Trump for averting what could have been a catastrophic conflict, noting that millions could have suffered if tensions had escalated. Following his return from a high-level diplomatic tour of the United States and Saudi Arabia, PM Sharif said at the Pakistan High Commission: \u201cHad President Trump not intervened, South Asia could have faced a major war. His real-time leadership was crucial in saving both countries from conflict. This is why we nominated him for a peace prize, recognizing his vision and exemplary statesmanship. During our meeting, we explained why he fully deserved this nomination.\u201d Sharif also highlighted the close coordination between Pakistan\u2019s civilian leadership and military command, praising Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir. \u201cGeneral Munir is a true nationalist who prioritizes Pakistan. Under his leadership, both the Army and Air Force have achieved remarkable successes. He is a man of vision and bravery. We consult on all major matters and take decisions in unity for the sake of Pakistan,\u201d the PM said. Reaffirming the strong civil-military alignment, he added, \u201cGeneral Munir and I are fully on the same page on all major decisions.\u201d The prime minister also underlined the importance of a recently signed defence agreement with Saudi Arabia, describing it as a \u201chistoric pact\u201d with global significance and a broader message of \u201cpeace and cooperation.\u201d PM Sharif noted that he had briefed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Geneva about his meetings with Trump and other world leaders, adding, \u201cMian Nawaz Sharif has fully supported and endorsed all steps taken during the visits.\u201d He expressed optimism about the \u201cencouraging\u201d outcomes from President Trump\u2019s recent meeting with Muslim leaders in Washington. \u201cWe fully participated in the Gaza meeting, and God willing, its encouraging results will come out soon,\u201d he said. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar accompanied him on the trip. The summit initiated and co-hosted by President Trump and Qatar\u2019s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was held on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York. It was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Jordan\u2019s King Abdullah II, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He added Islamabad was part of Trump\u2019s efforts to bring peace to Palestine and end Israeli aggression in Gaza.
