The tenth two-day Ministerial Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization on Disaster Risk Reduction concluded in Islamabad today. The meeting concluded with reaffirming the commitment by member states to strengthen regional cooperation, disaster resilience and coordinated action against disasters. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, these commitments, aligned with the Izmir Treaty, ECO Vision 2025, and the Sendai Framework, were incorporated into the Islamabad Declaration 2025. Speaking on the occasion, the NDMA Chairman Lt General Inam Haider Malik said that Islamabad Declaration is a collective resolve to safeguard communities of ECO countries against the growing threats of disasters. The Chairman said that Pakistan stands ready to share its expertise and advanced capabilities through the National Emergencies Operation Center to strengthen ECO’s regional preparedness and resilience.
